Oral health is essential to whole body health. In order to ensure that your teeth and gums are as healthy as they should be, visits to our Issaquah dental office every six months are essential. Dr. Sherman and our team want to make sure you have the best possible care and that, if problems do arise, they They’re taken care of quickly, before they get worse.

Of course, in addition to being healthy, your teeth will always look amazing after leaving our office. Who doesn’t love a nice, clean smile?

Tips for a Healthy Smile at Home

Proper Oral Hygiene

Don't skip brushing or flossing! It’s the easiest thing you can do to avoid spending a time and money on fillings and other restorations in the future.

Brush your teeth at least twice a day with a soft-bristled toothbrush. Use fluoride toothpaste to remove food particles and plaque from the tooth surfaces. Also, be sure to brush the top surface of your tongue;
this will remove any extra plaque-causing food particles, and help keep your breath fresh!

Clean between your teeth by flossing at least once a day. You can also use a mouthwash to help kill bacteria and freshen your breath. Decay-causing bacteria can linger between teeth where toothbrush
bristles can't reach. Floss and mouthwash will help remove plaque and food particles from between the teeth and under the gum line.

A balanced, healthy diet is always preferred. While it’s fine to have taffy or hard candy every now and then, make sure to brush and floss as soon as possible. We also recommend limiting sugary and acidic beverages.

Taking Care of Your Smile in Our Office

During your exam and cleaning every six months, your hygienist will do periodontal charting to make sure your gums are as healthy as we want them to be. If there is room for improvement, we may recommend additional at-home care or periodontal treatments in our office.

Additional preventive treatments we offer include night guards to prevent teeth grinding, and sealants to reduce the chance of getting cavities.

At First Impressions Dental Care, we love working here, and it shows! Dr. Sherman and every member of our team are committed to giving you the best care possible.
